Let’s face it: you’ve probably been guilty of buying and using some pretty awful plastic when you’ve lived in your home recently. I see that a lot on my Facebook feed. It’s not really about the material itself, though. It’s about how it impacts the way you interact with it.
If you think about it, plastic is a very convenient item. When you buy a bunch of them, you can buy a bunch of them, and when you use them, you can reuse them. Plastic is cheap, it doesn’t break, and it doesn’t need to be recycled. In the long run, this makes plastic a good choice for the environment. However, its also a relatively crappy material that can harm your skin if you are regularly exposed to it.
Plastic is the stuff of dreams. The only problem is that it is also the stuff of nightmares. When you buy a bunch of plastic, you are essentially buying a bunch of plastic that has been sitting in a plastic bag for the past two weeks. When you use the plastic, you are essentially using a plastic bag that has been sitting in the trash for the past two weeks. There is no reason to believe that plastic isnt harmful. It is, but the damage is often not immediately apparent.
I have been very pleased with the number of people who have asked me why my blog is called ‘Technology Plastic’. I have to admit that I have not gotten that far yet, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the response. My blog is a little long winded and I sometimes forget what I am trying to say. I just wanted to point out that the term is not entirely inaccurate.
Ex-tronic plastic is a type of plastic that is non-biodegradable. It may be that once you have used it, the damage is not immediately apparent. Plastic can be broken down by the elements and not just the elements. That’s why it is not a good idea to throw it out into the ocean.
The best way to dispose of it is to burn it. When you burn it, it is a fire that will burn the plastic and the plastic will be burned down to nothing. Then it might be considered an environmental problem, but since the plastic is non-biodecomposable, it is still biodegradable.
Plastic waste is a problem that we can’t solve with the current technology, but we can stop using it by using more efficient plastics. That said, you could probably make a dent in the problem by using some of the things we already have to avoid the problem. For instance, you could use clear plastic instead of yellow or red. Or, if you’d rather use recycled materials, then be sure to recycle the plastic from your current plastic shopping bags or containers.
The issue is that companies often put plastic at the bottom of their product list. When consumers see that the plastic is used so often, they tend to think that its a waste of resources. But there are plenty of ways to make plastic products more efficient. For instance: Instead of putting all your plastic in a single large container, you could use plastic bags instead. Or, just buy the bag yourself and use that rather than throwing away a few extra bags you already have.
The problem with plastic bags is that they are usually coated in plastic. When water is spilled on a plastic bag, a layer of plastic will form. That layer of plastic is then glued onto the bag, making it quite difficult to clean. The same is true of most non-biodegradable plastics.
This is why if you’re going to reuse a plastic bag, you might as well get yourself a biodegradable one. This is what ex tech plastics does.
