This technology is actually going to revolutionize the face scanning industry by allowing people to scan anyone in seconds (with a small, portable, battery-powered camera) and give them a full, detailed image of that person’s face. The company has released a video showing this technology working in practice, and says it will be used in a variety of applications including medical and law enforcement.
Once it’s implemented, it will be used in the same way as face recognition is currently, to help identify people (and possibly people with certain identities) on the street, as well as to help identify the people they’re looking at or taking pictures of.

Astra Tech takes this a step further. The idea is that the system can be used to identify people based on where they look and talk. The system works by analyzing how people look, how they talk, and where they stand. The system can then identify people based on the different poses they adopt. On a scale of zero to five, one being the lowest and five being the highest, you would rate yourself socially as being three, four, or five. When asked to describe themselves, a person with low openness to experience will say they’re shy, introverted, or both. Conversely, a person with high openness to experience may say they’re sociable, adventurous, or both.
