The weather is perfect. The weather forecast is perfect. The weather is a week ahead of schedule.
I’m sure there’s a better way to say this, but the weather is perfect for the upcoming Georgia Tech-Kentucky game. Both of those teams are undefeated this season (Georgia Tech with a 7-1 record against Kentucky, and Kentucky with a 7-1 record against Georgia Tech). However, while we’re not going to make any predictions, Georgia Tech is 9-0 in the ACC, while Kentucky is 4-2 in the conference.
The game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 pm EST.
I’ll be happy if we have a good game at Georgia Tech, but I can’t say the same about Kentucky. The Wildcats are undefeated in the SEC, but they have lost last week to Auburn and have lost to Alabama. They have lost to Texas A&M and Georgia, and have lost to Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and Mississippi State. Kentucky would have to beat Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama to win the SEC.
It’s funny how predictions are made on what will happen in different categories. But as a general rule, Tech’s win against Alabama last week means they will probably beat Kentucky. Georgia Tech beat South Carolina last week, so they should beat Kentucky. But with their loss to Alabama, Georgia Tech looks like they are probably a little more likely to beat Kentucky than to beat Georgia Tech. Tech beats South Carolina, so they should beat Kentucky.
Georgia Tech beats South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game, so you can probably take that as a more positive thing on Georgia Tech. But this is Georgia Tech’s first SEC title since 1994. The last time Tech lost was in 2012. Georgia Tech has not won an SEC title since 2008, the year Tech won the national title. In that year, Tech was undefeated and had beaten Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
Tech has a lot of history against Kentucky, so it seems like this is a bit of a coin toss between Tech and the Wildcats. But I’m going to go with Georgia Tech because they have a better chance of beating Kentucky. Georgia Tech has never beaten Kentucky, but they have beaten South Carolina, Boston College, and Clemson since they took the ACC in 2005. Tech beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl and Tech beat Boston College in the Orange Bowl.
Tech beat Boston College and Clemson in the Orange Bowl. So, Tech is the favorite to beat Georgia Tech.
Tech has four straight Orange Bowl wins, while Georgia Tech has five. The key to beating Tech is beating them. Tech has the talent and the depth, while Georgia Tech has the depth and the talent. If Georgia Tech wins, they’ll be playing at home in the Orange Bowl. If Tech wins, they’ll have a chance to play for the ACC Championship.
Tech has a lot of recent history in the ACC, and as a result, I think Tech might pull off the upset. Tech is the only ACC team to have won the ACC Championship, and they also have a lot of experience against ACC teams. They’re also playing in an ACC game now (Tech at Florida State in the ACC Championship game), so they might have a bit of momentum with that game.
