This post was written by a tech influencer, who asked me to write a post about what I think is a really important issue in the technology world. She asked what I thought about the topic of self-awareness. So, here is my take.

Self-awareness is a skill that will never be taught in school. However, it has been shown in many studies to be one of the most important things we can learn from an early age. If we’re aware of ourselves, we can avoid the mistakes we make and make better choices. We can also avoid the negative actions that we might do if we’re unaware of ourselves.

I think that the phrase “self-awareness” is an anachronism. People used to talk about self-awareness, and I think of self-awareness as having a self-awareness of both self and others. For example, a teenager might have a self-awareness of his or her parents, friends, teachers, and peers.

Self-awareness is a state of being that one has when one can see that they are doing something that is not right. We self-assess our actions and our actions are our own self-awareness. We might say, “I just bought a new car,” but our purchase decision is not the same thing as self-awareness.

Self-awareness is something that’s been around for millennia. Even ancient Mesopotamian texts talk about its existence. In the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh, we read about a god who is self-aware, and he’s one of the few gods who, unlike other gods, is not afraid of death. To get to that sense of self-awareness, we often have to have to let go of the story of who we are.

We can look to ancient civilizations like ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, and many others for examples of how self-awareness is part and parcel to the human condition. The same is true for the people of the Internet. When we’re young, we can all fall into the same trap of being a bit “self-absorbed” in a way.

Tech guys are the people who have the most to lose as this is the new generation of young people who are often the most opinionated and self-absorbed. Like our own generation we can easily get lost in the superficiality of our own lives. We have a tendency to think of ourselves as the smartest, best, most successful person in the world. When we look around, we are the only one in the room. When we look back, we have no idea what we were thinking.

We are the people who want to be the first to know everything. We are the people who think that we’re the most important person in the world by looking at our social media profiles. We are the people who think that we’re the smart ones, the people who have the most clout. We are the people who think that being famous is the most important thing in the world.

Here at the site we have been giving you this “tech influential” list, but I wanted to do more than just give you the names of these people. I wanted to give you an idea of what makes them important, and what makes them important to us.

We think that the most important people in the world are the ones who are making the most impact. They are people who have a voice, who have a platform, who are making a difference.
