I was really surprised when I got a text message from a friend this morning, asking if I wanted to do a tech sales career interview. I honestly haven’t thought about that in a long time, but I was surprised to hear from a friend that tech sales is a full-time job and that I have a lot of career options. I think that is really cool.
In a way, tech sales is like a lot of the other things we’ve discussed in this course. The thing is, it is a lot like other career paths. It means that a person has to start out in a certain field and work their way up. It’s not like you can just apply to any field and start in a day. There is a lot of work involved, and the only way to get into it is to be a good performer in the field.
What is the best way to get into that field? Well, it’s not just the qualifications, Ive had friends that didn’t qualify for tech sales because they couldn’t understand why their bosses wanted to hire them. It starts with being smart and being able to sell yourself. Once the sales person is sold, they should be able to get into a tech sales job. That’s where all the self-awareness comes in.
The best way to sell yourself to an employer is to be smart. If you can show the ability to sell yourself, you should be able to prove you can do this job.
