The Hill Tech is a video series that I created to share tips, techniques, and techniques. The series is geared towards those engineers and architects that are interested in the art of creating new structures. I am hoping to inspire this type of person to get their hands dirty and learn to actually build their own structures. I am hoping to inspire others to consider their own potential in this area of their lives and to consider building, remodeling, and designing their own structures.
I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to building structures, especially if that means building from scratch. My most recent project was a series of columns that I built out of rebar and plywood. The one for the top of the building in this video is approximately eight feet tall, and I had to use an extension of the rebar for the bottom.
I am also a bit of a hill-bug. My biggest challenge is figuring out what the ideal height is for whatever type of structure I want to build. I am by no means the best at building things, but I can come close.
One of my most challenging projects was a three-story house built with a combination of brick, brick and plywood. I found it took me a decade to figure out how to build this particular house, and I still don’t know how I did it. The entire project took me a few thousand hours to complete.
My biggest challenge has been finding a place to build my house. I am a big fan of the idea of combining two things that have been done before, but it is a challenge finding the perfect blend. I have a friend who builds an “off-the-shelf” house and a friend with a specialty in building things, and I wanted to use two of their talents in my own house.
