This is a review of the “Water Basin” technology application by a licensed contractor. This technology, which is now available to the public, has been touted as a way to save water and reduce energy usage by applying a surface coating to the inside of a basin, effectively turning a basin into a mini spa. The technology includes a “hot tub” where the user can take in hot water and steam while reducing the amount of water used.
The tech is currently available only to the public through a web site, but it’s being marketed like a spa. I wish I could say that it’s an incredible idea, but it’s nowhere close to being a feasible solution to my home’s water consumption.
Maybe. The tech isn’t there yet, but the way this is being sold is. It uses a thermal imaging camera to scan the bottom of the basin and identify the hot spots and then heats water that’s already there. The water heats up to the point where it becomes steam, causing it to run like a spa. You can use the steam to wash your hair, bath, and shower.
Well the hot spots arent all that hot, but it would be nice if they were.

If you’re an aspiring water-cooling enthusiast and want to make your bathroom a little more comfortable, you might want to try out this simple, inexpensive, and fun way to cool it down. The best part about it is that it’s very simple – no power tools required. Simply build a small basin out of a 3/4-inch diameter plastic pipe and a 2-inch diameter drill bit.
To make the basin you should have a drill bit no smaller than the drill bit in your drill. I used a 3/16-inch drill bit and it worked great. You would then drill a hole the exact diameter of the pipe to go into. I drilled a few holes, but found that you had to drill the hole so that the pipe itself was straight and the drill bit’s bit was in the right spot.
For a tech clg project, I would recommend you drill a very deep hole for the drill bit, as it is a bit less likely to bend than with a regular pipe. It’s also a lot easier to clean up after.
I have to agree with the others. A larger diameter pipe would be better for your drill bits, as you can drill through rock more easily. The only real problem I had with the drill bit was that it was a bit too big for my drill press. It would have been much easier to drill a hole with a #12 drill bit (I used a #10), but because I don’t have a drill press, this was a bit of a challenge.
To be fair, you can also drill bigger holes. A 12 drill bit can drill a 2.5 inch hole, but a 10 drill bit can drill a 4.6 inch hole. The reason is that a smaller drill bit can only drill a straight line, and by itself, a 12 drill bit will bend down to a smaller diameter.
